Chair Vector Art

I'm working on a redesign of my logo, and last night I drew some "mid-century" chairs in Illustrator, and here they are. I like the weird variations, but I think the chair to the right will be the "go to" for business cards, etc. We'll see.

Baby Names '09
Dec. 2nd, 2008 | 07:30 am
Being a new parent, the issue of baby names has become a source of utter annoyance. There seem to be three prevailing trends;
The "Groupthink" name (i.e. ten kids on the playground named Cadon/Sophie)
The "Fantasy" name (i.e. names intended only for babies and not adults, like Princess, Peanut, Apple and other completely nonsensical names)
The "Hipster" aka "I'm So Clever" name (i.e. Weird altenate spellings, names like Brooklyn and use of existing words that sound 'namey')
So taking these and other factors into account, here are the hot names to look for in 2009:
BOYS
* Maxima
* Kaydenn
* Sherman Obama Mankewicz
* Yonkers
* Barstow
* Noahdon
* JayDenn
* Bilbo
* Change
* Bidenn
Girls
* Obama
* Carnitas
* Princess Starlight
* Gennifyr
* Sentra
* Izobella
* Sheboygan
* Fantastarra
* Detroit
* Sophie

There should be a special place in hell for people who mark in library books. It's bad enough when someone highlights a paragraph or underlines a sentence. Which is annoying because it gives it some sort of false significance when read, and generally makes you start thinking about why someone underlined it and takes you away from what you're reading.
The worst is dumb assholes who write their opinion in the sidebar. Like they're sitting at home thinking, "I think I can add to Plato's musing on humanity here..." I had "The Fall" by Albert Camus, and someone highlighted a paragraph and wrote "Oh please!" beside it. Fuckin' armchair philosophers writing in fuckin' library books! Arrg!

Trying to get a "feel" for their faces before doing the Munny toys. I usually don't post this stuff, but I thought these looked funny. (click to enlarge)

The wheat drawing was well liked and approved. I guess time will tell whether it makes it to the carton or not. So, that's over....on to Munny toys for Sahin Meyer!

It's....wheat. Yeah...

My wheat drawing for Greenway. Wheat is hard to draw! A lot of "architecture" involved. Know what I'm sayin'? I drew this big, too. The thing is, after hours of work and inking two final versions it's still just...wheat.

Vince walked up to me today and said,
"Daddy, I want to see three movies."
"Okay"
"Kung Fu Panda, Wall-E, and Serpent and the Rainbow"
"The Serpent and the Rainbow!?"
"I saw it when I was a baby. I wasn't scared."

Got fired today. :( how many times is this now? It really sucks having skills as an artist and no way to fall back on them for work.
My son was in love with John McCain for some reason. When I did early voting with him, he got an "I voted" sticker. People asked him who he voted for and he started saying "John McCain". He kept this up until the election was over.
"John McCain is going to win EVERYTHING!"
"John McCain makes all little kids laugh."
"John McCain gives love to little boys."
We'd chant "O-BAM-A!" and he'd scream "NOOOO! MCCAIN!!"
I really thought he was turning into the first three year old republican. We were driving and he pointed to an SUV,
"I want a taller car. Like that, so I can see down on people."
Then, while playing with a suction cup dart gun my sister got him,
"SHOOTING GUNS IS GREAT!"
On November fourth, though, he was in a much more somber mood.
"Daddy, I have something sad to tell you. ....Obama is winning"
